I have been blessed with many good friends in my life as I continue to grow I’m realizing more and more that in order to have a good friend I need to be a good friend. That means being vulnerable, open to advice and being willing to share trusting that God always knows what’s best for me. My first inclination is to keep things private but that also keeps me isolated and open to attack from Satan. Friends especially godly friends can help you fight and give you encouragement to keep moving forward. Just as these verses are helping me I hope that they help you as well.
As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. (Proverbs 27:17 NKJV)
A friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity. (Proverbs 17:17 NKJV)
The righteous should choose his friends carefully. For the way of the wicked leads them astray. (Proverbs 12:26 NKJV)
For wherever you go, I will go and wherever you lodge, I will lodge. The Lord do so tome and more also, if anything but death parts you and me. (Ruth 1:16; 17 NKJV)
Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. (Luke 6:31 AMP)
This is my commandment, that you love and unselfishly seek the best for one another, just as I have loved you. No one has greater love [nor stronger commitment] than to lay down his own life for his friends. (John 15:12-13 AMP)
