Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. And do no be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].
What does it mean to present our bodies as a living sacrifice? For me it means having the self control to resist the things that may or may not be good for me. Or having the patience to wait for the best that God has for me. It’s not always easy and I don’t always exercise patience or self control but overall my desire is be a woman after God’s heart. A woman who wants what God wants more than what my flesh wants.
As you read over this passage take the time to pray about what it means to you. Allow God to lead you as you try and walk out being a living sacrifice and trust that when you stumble God will be there to pick you up.
